Marketplace: Will U.S. clothing firms change on Bangladesh?

Associate environmental science, policy, and management professor Dara O’Rourke, a labor policy specialist, weighs in on a group of US clothing manufacturers' plan to create a $50 million fund to improve factory safety in Bangladesh. He believes that amount of money is not much, considering the $20 billion value of Bangladesh's garment industry. He says Europe did better. “Really the only question is, will the U.S. response prove that they can solve problems in Bangladesh better, faster, more efficiently.”
