Reconstructing the Global Food System

The goal of the new Berkeley Food Institute is nothing less than transforming the way the world grows, processes, distributes, and consumes food. Co-directed by ESPM faculty Claire Kremen and Alastair Iles, the BFI is a research and policy institute dedicated to studying and galvanizing the transition to more resilient and just food systems, from local to global scales. The Institute will foster innovative connections between research, education, policy, practice, and social movements to develop and strengthen sustainable food and agriculture systems that are healthy, just, diverse and resilient.
