Research Description
Hawaiian aquatic ecosystem resilience
I am interested in nearshore coastal ecosystem resilience in the face of multiple anthropogenic stressors including climate change, sea level rise, nutrient loading, and invasive species. Specifically, I am working in two Hawaiian aquatic ecosystems - coral reefs and brackish anchialine pools. Both ecosystems are valued by many user groups within Hawaii yet are undergoing various levels of degradation. My goal is to gain insight into key ecosystem responses to stressors and to share this information with local community groups, planning agencies, and managers interested in conserving these valuable natural resources.
