Research Description
Climate Change and Environmental Justice
I am interested in the intersections between climate change impacts and adaptation and environmental justice. At the moment my work focuses on vulnerable populations and distribution of risk, vulnerability, and adaptation resources. In the long run I am looking for adaptation solutions which increase community resilience in an equitable way. My field research is focused in coastal ecosystems in California, and on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. I worked with KAHEA, the Hawaiian Environmental Alliance, to develop their climate justice campaign. I have a strong interest in the connection between environmental change and theories of indigeneity and landedness.International Environmental Politics
I also have a strong interest in international environmental politics, particularly processes related to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, international environmental norms, and the establishment of authority in international processes. I have worked with several organizations affiliated with the UNFCCC process and have attended several international negotiation sessions, including UNFCCC COP13 in Bali, Indonesia.Honors and Awards
