Research Description

My research interests are in the intersection of environmental ethics, animal studies, and STS. Specifically, I am looking at the human-animal and human-nature dichotomies and how they bear on ethical theory and societal norms. One topic that I hope to research in greater depth is the rise of factory farming and its relationship to various antiquated scientific ideas about animals that may may have justified such unpardonable treatments of animals. Another area of interest is exploring the ethical implications of recent studies on animal cognition and intelligence. Ultimately, my research targets new perspectives for understanding humanity and its place in nature.
