During my postdoc I will be working in Mary Firestone's lab on a collaborative DOE project, where I will be examining how organic soil carbon decomposition and stabilization processes in soil are impacted by the interactions between plant roots and the soil microbial community. For my Ph.D., I investigated the interactions between black carbon (or biochar) and soil organic carbon - how does the presence of one affect the decomposition of the other?
