Making mounds out of molehills?: The role of pedogenesis and pocket gophers in the Mima mounds and vernal pools of the San Joaquin Valley
Broadly, my research explores the interactions and feedbacks between life and landscape. I am using a combination of remote sensing (LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging)), spatial pattern analysis, geomorphic modeling, and biologic monitoring to explore the origins of Mima mound-vernal pool topography in the Great Central Valley of California. I am also passionate about science education and my overall career goal is to cultivate a science-literate, curious and environmentally responsible citizenry.
