The Wall Street Journal featured professor Kate O'Neill in this video on the future of recycling. Hundreds of types of plastic exists but only a few are currently profitable to recycle. Most plastic waste products are sent to a landfill, even if they are initially sent to recycling centers. Researchers are finding ways to make the recycling process as inexpensive as possible, but O'Neill says waste infrastructure will need to be improved to make this a more viable option in the future.
