Professor Miguel Altieri Honored for Leadership in Agroecology

Professor Miguel Altieri recieved an award from Chile!

Congratulations to Professor Miguel Altieri, who has been honored with the title of Faculty of Agricultural and Forest Sciences Honorary Professor by the University of La Frontera (UFRO) in Chile. This title is awarded to the highest ranking academics, from Chile or abroad, who have contributed significantly to the expansion of a faculty department or area of knowledge. This is the first time that the faculty of Agricultural and Forest Sciences at UFRO has given this honor. With the award they recognize Professor Altieri as one of the world’s leaders in agroecology, a discipline for which he has advocated for in Chile, his homeland, and in particular, the UFRO for the past two decades, in addition to his agroecology work at UC Berkeley.

Rodolfo Pihan, dean of UFRO's faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry stated, “It’s a pleasure for our faculty to give this recognition to someone who fully meets the standards of academic excellence and of collaboration with our university."
