Professor Dennis Baldocchi and postdoc Ariane Arias-Ortiz were featured on ABC7 News discussing their research on the potential of marshes and wetlands, particularly the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, to mitigate and slow global warming. The research focuses on measuring how much carbon has built up in the soil and inferring carbon sequestration rates within the marshlands. "[...] we feel that restoring marshes in the Bay Area can be a very effective natural carbon solution to this greenhouse problem we are all facing," said Baldocchi.
