McKalee Steen elected to American Indian Society of Science and Engineering board

Congratulations McKalee Steen on being elected to the American Indian Society of Science and Engineering (AISES). Steen will serve as the  U.S. Junior National Representative, acting as the primary student ambassador for the organization and as a student member of the AISES Board of Directors.  Founded in 1977, AISES offers programming to highlight the geographic, economic, and social aspects of STEM education and careers.

Steen is a member of the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma and has been a member of AISES since she was in middle school, when she competed in the AISES science fair for the first time. At Berkeley, Steen researches climate change and land use, focusing on native and indigenous conservation.
