Jonas Meckling’s paper recognized by American Political Science Association

Congratulations to professor Jonas Meckling on receiving the American Political Science Association’s (APSA) Best Paper on Public PolicyAward, along with his co-author Jonas Nahm from Johns Hopkins University.

The paper, “Strategic State Capacity: How States Counter Opposition to Climate Policy,” discusses the ability of states to influence interest groups in pursuit of policy goals. Meckling focuses on cases of climate and clean energy policies in California, France, Germany, and the United States. 

Meckling is an associate professor in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management, where he leads Berkeley’s Energy & Environment Policy Lab.
