UC Berkeley professor and plant pathologist Rodrigo Almeida studies the ecology of emerging insect-borne plant diseases, the transmission of insect-borne plant pathogens, and insect-microbe interactions.
He works closely with UC Cooperative Extension Advisor Monica Cooper and UC Riverside Cooperative Extension Specialist Matt Daugherty (PhD ’06 Integrative Biology) on research and extension concerning Pierce’s disease of grapevine, grapevine leafroll disease, pest and disease management and other issues facing the grape industry.
Their work was highlighted by the University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources as part of a series on successful collaborations addressing California's pressing issues. Learn more about their research in the video below or by visiting the Almeida lab website.
