Historian Douglas Brinkley delivered this talk at Berkeley on September 17, 2015 as a part of the ESPM Seminar series. Dr. Brinkley is professor of history at Rice University and a fellow at the James Baker Institute for Public Policy. His books include The Quiet World: Saving Alaska’s Wilderness Kingdom, 1879-1960; The Wilderness Warrior: Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America; The Great Deluge: Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast; and Rosa Parks: A Life. Brinkley is a history commentator for CNN News, C-Span, CBS, and the History Channel and serves as an editor at Audubon Magazine.
