Science is more than just a profession for me, and it permeates throughout my life in and out of the lab. My extracurricular activities and podcast choices all share the underlying theme of being excited about science and the process of discovery. You can often catch me sharing this excitement during long car rides, science outreach events, and most recently, with a broader audience via Animal Planet.
As an undergraduate researcher in SUNY Oneonta, NY, I delved into the realm of genetics, investigating cancer genes and their interactions with other genes. After graduating, I spent the next several years exploring a different aspect of biology, field based ecological research. As a PhD student, my research combines these different aspects of research to understand evolution at the ecological, genetic, and chemical scale.
