I'm Dana (she/they), the new department assistant.
As I become familiar with ESPM and the culture, my goal is to identify the best ways to provide administrative support for staff, faculty and students. Please have compassion and patience as I learn the building and all the new faces!
How I can help: process reimbursement and honorarium requests; support work-study students; coordinate conference room reservations and equipment rental; assist with event planning, travel arrangements and accommodations, and etc.
Prior to this role, I was an adjunct professor teaching production courses in digital video, documentary, and conceptual art. I believe the classroom is a place where growth and discovery happen, and it was a rewarding experience holding space with students.
Outside of the office, my creativity expands across writing, multimedia installation and haircutting. I make formal experiments in genre and narrative by collapsing documentary, cinema and performance to push the limits of storytelling and traditional filmmaking. My interests are grounded in black and feminist studies, queer anthropology, and hair care practices.
During my free time, I'm either spending time with family and Obi (puppy), riding my bicycle or cutting hair. Feel free to stop by the office and say hello! I look forward to settling in and being of assistance.
